The Office of the Governor-General is located in – and often referred to as – Government House. It is responsible for:
- the provision of official services to the Governor-General and his/her household
- the provision of official services to government agencies and organisations
- arranging the Governor-General’s official activities at home and overseas
- the Governor-General’s correspondence
- liaising with Buckingham Palace on honours, awards and diplomatic credentials
- liaising with the Office of the Prime Minister on all honours and awards
- administrative arrangements for conferment of honours and awards
